Before replacing the original ECM or PCM, identify the cause of failure. Typical reasons include poor grounds or power supply, faulty wiring harnesses, and shorted solenoids or relays.
Remanufacturing is the process of taking used parts, completely disassembling and thoroughly cleaning them, replacing the worn components with original quality components, and restoring them to their original function. Every unit is 100% tested to ensure O.E. performance.
Common symptoms include the Check Engine Light remaining on after reset, unexpected engine shutdowns, loss of spark or fuel injection, absence of fuel pump pulse, and intermittent starting issues.
ECM stands for Electronic Control Module, while PCM refers to Powertrain Control Module. Both manage engine functions, but the PCM also controls the transmission.
Verify that the PCM is correctly flash programmed for your vehicle. If your vehicle has the Ford passive anti-theft system, an on-car relearn procedure is necessary.
